Archetype and shadow mapping for your client work
Send a client one link. They take the Archemap test, and you both start the next session with a shared language for their strengths and the patterns that trip them up.
We have not built this yet. We are asking practitioners first, and we will build it if enough of you want it. Joining the list costs nothing and commits you to nothing.
Who it is for
Coaches
Life, career and personal development coaches who want a structured way into a client's motives, not a label.
Shadow work and Jungian-inspired practitioners
If you already work with the shadow, each client gets a named shadow pattern and a hidden one to explore together.
Facilitators
Workshop, retreat, circle and group leaders who want everyone in the room to have a map before day one.
Therapists and counsellors
As a reflective prompt alongside your own methods, if you use such tools. It is not an assessment for clinical decisions.
What Archemap is, and what it is not
- ◆A self-reflection instrument built on Jung, Emma Jung and Carol Pearson's twelve archetypes, developed by the Archemap team.
- ◆A starting point for coaching conversations: a vocabulary your client can recognise and argue with.
- ◆Not a diagnostic. It does not detect, assess or treat any mental health condition.
- ◆Not a validated psychometric instrument, and not meant for hiring, selection or clinical decisions.
What you would get
The first version, built on the test and report that already run on Archemap.
A personal client link
Clients take the same free test as everyone else. At the start they agree to share their result with you, and they can withdraw that later.
Your client list
Each client's main archetype, shadow and archetype wheel, in one simple list.
Coach edition of the full report
The full Archemap report for your client, plus pages for you: session prompts, shadow questions and what to watch for.
A PDF with your name
Your name on the cover of the client's report, with a small "made with Archemap" in the footer.
Later, if the first version is used
- ◇A group wheel: every member of a workshop or team on one chart.
- ◇A workshop kit: a facilitator deck, printable archetype cards and an exercise sheet.

How this compares with the PMAI
The Pearson-Marr Archetype Indicator (PMAI) is the established twelve-archetype instrument from Carol Pearson and Hugh Marr, sold online by StoryWell. As of November 2026 its published prices are $25 for the Core Report and $55 for the Expanded Report, and it offers a facilitator interface for practitioners. It has a published research history, which Archemap does not.
Archemap is our own development drawing on the same tradition. It pairs each archetype with a named shadow pattern and a hidden shadow, and the coach edition would add session prompts. The free result costs your client nothing. If you need a validated instrument, the PMAI is the right choice. If you want a reflective map with a shadow layer, at a lower price per client, Archemap may suit you better.
PMAI is a trademark of its owners. Archemap is not affiliated with them. Prices checked on storywell.com on 3 November 2026.

Questions
Is this available now?
No. This page checks whether enough practitioners want it before we build it. If you join, we email you once when it opens. You pay nothing now.
Is Archemap a diagnostic or clinical tool?
No. It is a self-reflection instrument. It does not diagnose, assess or treat any condition, and it should not be used for clinical, hiring or selection decisions.
Is the test scientifically validated?
No, and we do not claim it is. Archemap is our own development based on Jung, Emma Jung and Carol Pearson. The methodology page explains how the scoring works. Use the result as material for a conversation, not as a verdict.
What does my client see?
The same free test and free result anyone gets on Archemap: their main archetype, their shadow and a short read on how the two interact. If you unlock the full report for them, they get it too, and you also get the coach pages.
How is my client's privacy handled?
Your client agrees at the start of the test to share the result with you, and can withdraw that later. We never sell data. You see only what your clients choose to share.
Can I use it with groups?
Each participant can take the test through your link from day one. The group wheel and the workshop kit are planned for Pro+ once the first version is in use.
Can I try it myself first?
Yes. Take the free test and look at the sample report to see what your clients would get.
Who is behind Archemap?
A small independent team. The About page explains the method and what we promise.
